Jasprit Bumrah, India’s medium-fast bowler has given credit for his success to MS Dhoni. Bumrah said that Dhoni has shown great confidence in him, and this has helped him tremendously. The 22-year-old played for Mumbai Indians (MI) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016. He was pretty impressive as he picked up 15 wickets in this ninth season of IPL. However, despite his heroics MI could not reach the finals of IPL 9. Bumrah also lauded Dhoni’s belief in himself. He said Dhoni’s confidence in him and his self-belief is the best feeling any young cricketer can get. Full Cricket Scorecard: Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Sunrisers Hyderabad, IPL 2016 Final
Bumrah was quoted by Spotskeeda saying, “It’s always very good. It gives me the confidence to express myself because he [Dhoni] has that self-belief. I can show my capability. It also gives me the confidence to do all the things I know I can do best. It’s the best feeling for a youngster who has come into the side.” IPL 2016: Ricky Ponting says Jasprit Bumrah has talent to play Test cricket
Talking about if there is any change in him since he played for India, “No, not at all, I am still the same person. I hang out with the same friends and lead the same lifestyle. But people recognise me now, that is the only difference. I do the same things like I used to do earlier as well. I just stay at home and spend time with my family and friends. I want to do well in cricket and am not behind fame and glamour.” Jasprit Bumrah: Enjoy challenges thrown at me by MS Dhoni
Bumrah was not very open when he was probed as to what is the secret of his ability to bowl well at the death, “I don’t try to think too much. I just try to execute the plans which we have decided in the bowlers’ meeting or the plans that were made earlier. I stick to my strengths. See, some days the plans won’t work but if you have a player-plan then you will be able to do well more often than not. Thinking about the plan and execution will help you, rather than thinking about the pressure or the outcome.”
