Punjab Kings spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was delighted after receiving a bat from Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni, but his excitement was met with playful teasing from teammate Glenn Maxwell in the dressing room. So far this IPL season, Chahal hasn’t faced a single delivery, as Punjab Kings have only used him as an Impact Player for his bowling.
Maxwell didn’t hold back after learning Chahal got Dhoni’s bat, as he pulled his teammate’s leg and reminded him that he’s usually subbed out during the batting innings to make way for a specialist batter.
“You get subbed out in every game,” Maxwell siad. Punjab Kings young batter Priyansh Arya, who was also present, jokingly said that a kid from Haryana would eventually take the bat from him.
Yuzvendra Chahal is back in form in the second half of the ongoing IPL. Chahal has claimed 9-wickets in nine matches so far. Chahal, who is the all-time leading wicket-taker in IPL history, has crucial advice to the young batters in the squad, helping them handle opposition spinners.
Prabhsimran and Priyansh Arya praised Chahal for the crucial advice they received from the experienced bowler, which helped them against KKR.
“Yuzi bhaiya came to me before the start of the match and explained to me how the wicket will be behaving on the day. It helped me because I am not the best in reading the tracks,” Priyansh said
Before the match, Yuzi paaji told me that I am contributing well with 30-35 runs at the top. He told me that the ball will spin on the track, and hence I should take my time in adjusting to the conditions. So, I took my time initially and it helped me later on to play my shots. All thanks to Yuzi paaji.” Prabhsimran addded.
