Wicketkeeper Eknath Kerkar is to lead Mumbai in the Kalpathi Buchi Babu All India Invitation Tournament to be played from August 15 to 31 at Chennai. The 16-strong squad contains some talented youngsters like Akhil Herwadkar, the vice captain, Sarfaraz Khan and Arman Jaffer.
Left-arm spinner Harmeet Singh, ignored last season, has found a berth in the team. He was present in the team that played in the KSCA tournament recently, said Mumbai Cricket Association joint secretary and selection panel convener Nitin Dalal.
“Last season he was injured and in KSCA tournament he could play only one game,” said Dalal about the selection of Harmeet, a former India under 19 cricketer. “With an eye on the future, we have picked several youngsters in the squad,” Dalal said.
