Jasprit Bumrah had faced a back injury in the final Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia in Sydney, which has caused him to be on the sideline. He was even ruled out of India’s Champions Trophy campaign.
The star pacer, who plays for Mumbai Indians, has been going under rehabilitation as he aims to regain complete fitness for the Indian Premier League (IPL) which is set to begin March 22.

Speaking on the injury, MI head coach Mahela Jayawardene said in the pre-tournament press conference that Bumrah has started his progress, and they have to wait on the feedback by BCCI.
“[Bumrah] has just started his progress. We have to wait and see what their [BCCI medical team] feedback is on him,” said Mahela Jayawardene.
“At the moment, everything is going well. But, obviously, it is on a day-to-day basis. He is in good spirits. Not having him is a challenge. He is one of the best bowlers in the world and he has been a fantastic pro for us for many years,” Jayawardene added.
After he picked the back injury in the final Test match against Australia, Bumrah was advised to have a rest period of five weeks, but was aiming to recover quickly for ICC Champions Trophy. He was then included in the provisional squad announced by Ajit Agarkar in January, but got removed due to discomfort in early February.
