Rest of India were 36 for one in their first inning at stumps on day 2 of Irani Trophy 2015-16 match against Mumbai. They are trailing by 567 runs. Mumbai posted 603 in their innings. They started slowly today morning from their overnight score of 386 for the loss of three wickets adding just 11 runs in the first seven overs on the second day. They then picked up pace in the later overs. Suryakumar Yadav, who was unbeaten on 88 yesterday, cracked a beautiful century though his rate of scoring was lesser than that of the first day’s. Aditya Tare reached his fifty but perished soon, he scored 65; he hit nine fours. Krishna Das took his wicket with the help of some quality glovework by Naman Ojha, who took a good diving catch. At lunch, Mumbai were 473 for four with Suryakumar and Siddhesh Lad at the crease. Suryakumar was batting on 127 having struck 19 boundaries and a six. Suryakumar went on to score 156 hitting five more boundaries and taking his fours tally to 24. Siddhesh Lad continued to bat at the same rate even after the fall of Suryakumar. Lad and Tare batted slowly compared to the previous Mumbai batsmen. Nayar, who replaced Suryakumar did not trouble the scorers and fell for just two runs off the bowling of Jayant Yadav. Nayar had advanced down the track but ended up nicking the ball towards the slips. He was the first Mumbai batsman (until then) who was not able to reach double figures. Dhawal Kulkarni came next but got out off the third ball he faced for a duck. Jayant bowled a similar turning bouncer and Kulkarni could only edge it to the slips. At tea, Mumbai were 537 for seven wickets. Siddhesh reached his fifty soon after the tea break. Nayar and Kulkarni then departed for just two and zero. Siddhesh was the eighth wicket to fall; he scored 66. Mumbai then lost their final three wickets for only 31 runs. They were bowled out for 603. In reply, Rest of India were 36 for the loss of one wicket and were trailing by 567 runs at stumps on the second day. The only wicket to fall was of Srikar Bharat.
