Sussex will have to do without Bangladeshi star bowler Mustafizur Rahman for their upcoming Royal London Club match against Gloucestershire. The reported shoulder injury comes as another setback for the bowler, who recently joined up with the squad after a lengthy delay. Mustafizur suffered from burnout after the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016 season with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), and was advised to rest to recover. After that, visa issues delayed his stint. He eventually made his debut for Sussex against Essex, ending with brilliant figures of 4 for 23. His second match though, didn’t reap him any wickets, as he ended up conceding 31 runs in 3.2 overs. Mustafizur came into the international scene in a T20 International (T20I) fixture against Pakistan in April 2015. He revelled in his very first outing, scalping two wickets and conceding a mere 20 runs in his four overs. But he made his presence felt in the international scene during the three-match One-Day International (ODI) series against India at home.
On his debut, he bamboozled the Indian batting unit, scalping 5 for 50 and leading his side to a win. And the very next game, he grabbed six wickets and helped Bangladesh win the match and historically, the series. Another two wickets in the final ODI meant he took a total of 13 wickets in the series.
Earlier this year, he was at his absolute best in the ICC T20 World Cup 2016, taking 9 wickets in just 3 matches. And he followed it up with another sensational display in his inaugural IPL season, taking 17 wickets in SRH’s victorious campaign.
