Muttiah Muralitharan: No grudges against Australia

Muralitharan although, cannot answer how someone who had a troubled relationship with Australian cricket in his career, has now went on to become a spin consultant for the Australians.

One of Sri Lanka’s all-time great Muttiah Muralitharan, feel an individual should not carry grudges in life and should keep moving forward instead. The former Lankan spinner although, cannot answer how someone who had a troubled realtionship with Australian cricket while he was still playing, has now went on to become a spin consultant for the Australians. The off-spin legend who also helped Australia to tackle their spin worries against Pakistan in 2014, is now offering his services before the start of an important Test series against Sri Lanka. Muralitharan said, “I never had a problem with the Australian cricket board, players, or their people in general. It was just one or two individuals who made this accusation that I ‘throw’ the ball, and I proved them wrong. You’ve got to move on in life. If you carry grudges, you spoil your present and future. Muralitharan was ‘called’ twice by Australian umpire Darrel Hair during the Melbourne Test when Sri Lanka were touring Australia in 1995-96. In one of the the tri-series, Murali was again on the receiving end at the hand sof umpire Ross Emerson. Soon, this resulted in the whole Sri Lankan team standing behind their spinner in revolt.

Meanwhile, Australian captain Steven Smith had also said recently that his team will be counting on Muralitharan for his insights when the Test series against Sri Lanka starts.
