In the twilight of his first class career that has spanned close to two decades, prolific run-getter Amol Muzumdar wants to return to play for Mumbai, the team that he led to Ranji Trophy glory five seasons ago.
Muzumdar, a veteran of 158 first-class games, in which he has amassed over 10,000 runs, was given a ‘No Objection Certificate’ by Assam, the team that he represented over the last two seasons, to play for his home association.
“Four players — Amol Muzumdar, Bhavin Thakkar (Himachal Pradesh), Vineet Indulkar (HP) and Wilkin Mota (Tripura) — want to play for Mumbai again and have submitted the NOCs from the associations that they had been playing in the last season,” said Mumbai Cricket Association’s joint secretarY Nitin Dalal.
The only hitch in their wish to play for their home association in 2011-12 season is that MCA has put in place one-year cooling-off period for such players, said Dalal.
“It’s now up to the MCA managing committee to take a decision on their request,” said the official.
