On September 20, 2015 Dalmiya died because of cardiac arrest. N Srinivasan was deeply shocked by Dalmiya’s demise and he had previously said that Dalmiya will be long remembered for his invaluable contribution to cricket. “I am saddened with the passing of Mr Dalmiya. He was a visionary cricket administrator who dedicated his life to cricket. Cricket flourished in India during his tenures as the BCCI President, while global cricket got stronger when he was the ICC President. Cricket has lost one of its most loyal, committed and dedicated servants.” It was earlier reported by PTI that N Srinivasan and Sharad Pawar may play strong role in deciding next BCCI president. Many politicians, cricketers and BCCI officials gave tribute to Dalmiya. Dalmiya is credited for making BCCI the most wealthy and powerful cricket body in the world.
