The Working Committee of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday is expected to ask N Srinivasan to step aside unconditionally during their meeting on Sunday.
The request from the BCCI comes a day after most TV channels reported that Srinivasan put forth four conditions for him to step away from his post.
BCCI sources told CNN IBN that they will not push for Srinivasan’s resignation and expect him to step aside by himself till the probe into his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan’s involvement in betting during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2013 is over.
Sources said that there is no consensus on who could replace Srinivasan once he steps aside. They also said that Shashank Manohar, who is widely tipped to be the interim President, is not keen to take it up.
All eyes are now on the BCCI working committee meeting to be held at 2:30 pm on Sunday in Chennai. Srinivasan is likely to step aside pending an inquiry.
