Former England captain Nasser Hussain has achieved a new high. In a challenge organised at Lord’s, he pouched the highest catch, making a new Guinness World Record. It wasn’t an easy record to set for the Englishman, as he failed to grab a 32-meter high that was smashed from a BatCam drone in the first attempt. However, he managed to succeed the second time when the ball flew 49-metre high, despite the conditions being windy. As a matter of fact, he has 107 catches to his name in international cricket; plus, at First-Class level, he pocketed 350 catches. Read: When Muhammad Ali visited Lord’s
In the 96 Test matches he played for England, he amassed 5,764 runs at 37.18, inclusive of 14 hundreds and 33 half-centuries. In 88 One-Day International (ODI) matches, he churned out 2,332 runs at 30.28, studded with a hundred and 16 half-centuries. But the highlight of his career is his 207-run knock against Australia in the second innings of an Ashes Test, eventually taking England over the line by 9 wickets. He was also awarded Player of the Match for the same. Read: When Lord’s was almost bombed during a cricket match
As a captain, Hussain achieved many heights. He succeeded former wicketkeeper-batsman Alec Stewart and led England in 45 Test matches (third most for an English captain), from 1999 to 2003. But what made him more prominent was that his win percentage was higher than the previous five captains.
