Former Indian star batter Navjot Singh Sidhu has solidly favored India to make use of spinners in their upcoming five-match Test series against England. Sidhu wants star mysterious spinner and Champions Trophy winning hero Varun Chakravarthy to be in the Test squad against the English team.
In an exclusive conversation from Sports Today, Sidhu urged Gautam Gambhir to make team selection a priority and not work according to his performance in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL). As per Sidhu, Varun Chakravarthy being included will be a master strategy, as England team is weak against spin, which might cause a problem to their batting order.
“Mystery spinners are England’s weakness. It’s a swollen nerve for England. Will you leave out Varun Chakravarthy? No, you will have to play him. Or you will play Kuldeep Yadav with his high-end deliveries from both ends, they can’t read him,” Sidhu told Sports Today.
Indian team will make sure to make use of their victory in the Champions Trophy and prepare for the upcoming Test series, while making sure to improve their recent struggles in the longest format of the game. Navjot Singh Sidhu believes that using mystery spin will be the key to assure their dominance.
