Roelof van der Merwe’s four-for scripted a remarkable win for Netherlands over Hong Kong in the play-offs of ICC World Cup Qualifiers 2018 and with this, Nepal, who earlier in the day, secured a win against Papua New Guinea (PNG) earned ODI status for the first time. It is a great moment for the cricket crazy nation, who have an incredible story to tell about their journey.

The cricket fraternity took to the micro-blogging site to congratulate the hilly south Asian nation.
Unfortunate that Hong Kong & PNG have to lose ODI status due to the ICC cutting the number of associates with ODI status from six to four, but still delighted for Nepal. Just need their board to sort themselves out now.

ODI status for Nepal! Amazing, amazing feat. Dear @EmiratesCricket, I think at least two bilateral tours to Kathmandu need to be organised asap. Per year. For ever. Thanks
