NEPAL cricket board has announced the squad for the upcoming Asia Cup. Nepal will make their first appearance in Asia Cup history in the upcoming season. The team qualified for the Asia Cup after winning the ACC Premier Cup where they defeated UAE in the final.
The team will play Pakistan in the Asia Cup opener on August 30 in Multan before facing India on September 4 in Kandy. Nepal will also have a preparatory camp in Pakistan where they will play matches against PCB-designated teams.
Nepal will be led by Rohit Paudel and will have a good mix of experienced players and upcoming talents. Cricket in Nepal has seen rapid growth in recent times. Being an Asian country and neighbours to giants India and Pakistan, cricket fever had to grip the country.
The fans’ craze was supported by some exceptional performances of the team in the build-up to the Asia Cup. Nepal suffered a heartbreak in the World Cup qualifiers but they have a chance to express themselves against the best teams in the Asia Cup.
Coming back to the squad, all senior players, including the likes of Asif Sheikh, Kusal Bhurtel, Kushal Malla, Sandeep Lamichhane, Karan KC, and Sompal Kami have managed to retain their place in the squad.
