Netherlands captain Peter Borren won the toss and chose to bowl against West Indies in their World Cup Group B match at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi.
West Indies were crushed by South Africa by seven wickets in their World Cup opening game on February 24, whereas Netherlands lost their opening fixture against England by six wickets on February 22.
