New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has quashed the reports in the Indian media that they have pulled out of the first-ever day-night Test in India, later this year. It was reported on Monday that New Zealand had rejected India’s offer, and thus the Indian cricket board was in talks with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) for their first-ever day-night Test. Both England and New Zealand are set to tour India in what the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) describes as ‘India Cricket’. While England will be playing as many as 5 Tests, the New Zealand team will play 3 Tests against India. The Indian Express on Monday reported that New Zealand had ‘snubbed’ India’s offer, and the BCCI was looking up to England to take part in the day-night Test when they tour later this year. ALSO READ: Jeet Raval’s selection for NZ backed by performances

However, New Zealand, who played the first-ever day-night Test against Australia in late 2015, have quashed the report. “NZC has taken the precaution of contacting the BCCI to advise statements in the article regarding a day/night Test are in no way representative of our position, and that no such comments have been made by our Board,” a spokesperson from New Zealand Cricket (NZC) was quoted as saying by stuff.co.nz. “The only comment NZC has made on the matter is that it’s supportive of the concept — and that stance hasn’t changed,” the spokesperson added.

New Zealand will be India for 3 Tests, which will be played at Indore, Kanpur and Kolkata. The itinerary of the tour is yet to be announced.
