New Zealand continued their winning streak in Ireland Tri-Nation series, beating Bangladesh by 4 wickets in the third ODI. Chasing 258, Kiwis were kept under the pump towards the end amidst tight bowling by Rubel Hossain and Mustafizur Rahman. However, Neil Broom and James Neesham’s responsible knocks, after Tom Latham accumulated 54 runs at the top, eventually took New Zealand to their consecutive victory in the tournament. Bangladesh, on the other end, succumbed to pressure. Live Cricket Scorecard: Bangladesh vs New Zealand, 3rd ODI, Ireland tri-series 2017

Latham and Luke Ronchi started the chase with a flurry of boundaries. Ronchi fell for 17 as Latham continued from the other end. He struck vital partnership with George Worker, before the latter departed sneaking a quick single inside the inner circle. Latham was set for a big score before falling to Rubel, edging one to the wicketkeeper. The innings was held together, courtesy two fine partnerships: one between Ross Taylor and Broom and the other involving Broom and Neesham.

Taylor departed for 25 against the run of play. Bangladesh were at par with a disciplined bowling in the middle overs, thanks to Rubel, Shakib and Rahman.

Rubel extracted extra bounce and pace as well as producer lateral movement. Shakib targetted the stumps and Rahman injected vital breakthroughs. Broom carved out a 65-ball 48, but Neesham’s 52 ensured light work for the lower order as Kiwis scrapped an easy 4-wicket win with 15 balls to spare.

Earlier, Bangladesh were invited to bat after Latham got lucky with the toss. Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar started well for the side before regular wickets in the middle overs, coupled with good bowling efforts from Neesham, Mithcell Santner and Ish Sodhi, which brought Kiwis back into the game. The subcontinental side were at least 25 to 30 runs short, but managed a respectable total courtesy fifties from Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah.

Neesham was awarded Man of the Match award for his all-round efforts on Wednesday.

The next game in the Tri-Nation series is between Ireland and Bangladesh, whose previous encounter was washed out.
