Ahead of the Test series against New Zealand, England received some bad news. Mason Crane has now been replaced by Jack Leach. Crane was ruled out after he was diagnosed by lower back stress fracture. Leach will face stiff competition from Moeen Ali. According to cricbuzz, England bowling coach, Chris Silverwood said: The scan results have shown he has a partial stress fracture of the back, we’ve caught it relatively early so unfortunately, he’s going home. Like anybody would be, he’s a little bit upset he’s going home but that’s life and part and parcel of professional sport.”

Leach boasts of an impressive First-Class record playing for Somerset. He has picked 184 wickets from 54 games at an average of 25.95. In the last County season he claimed 51 wickets at 27.78 from 14 matches. Crane had played just one Test for England. He made his debut in the fifth and final Ashes Test against Australia in January 2018.
