The second and the final Test of the series between New Zealand and Pakistan started just the way the first Test had started. The Christchurch Test had witnessed a complete wash out on Day One, while at the Seddon Park in Hamilton, some play was possible as New Zealand ended the first day with the score reading 2 for 77. Pakistan won the toss and invited them to bat. Once again opener Jeet Raval remained unbeaten on 35. Giving him company was the experienced Ross Taylor on 29 at the close of play. The live cricket streaming of Day Two of the match will be available for free on skysport.co.nz, while the live telecast of the match is available in New Zealand on Sky Sports. Pakistani viewers can catch the action on Ten Sports, Geo Sports and PTV Sports. LIVE CRICKET SCORECARD: Pakistan vs New Zealand, 2nd Test at Seddon Park, Hamilton.
The two men to be dismissed were Tom Latham for duck and skipper Kane Williamson for 13. Mohammad Aamer and Sohail Khan took a wicket each. New Zealand had comprehensively beaten Pakistan in the first Test at Christchurch by 8 wickets and are thus 1-0 up in the two-match series. This places them with a great chance to beat Pakistan at home; something which they have failed to do since 1985. Pakistan have won 7 and drawn 5 Test series’ in last 31 years in New Zealand, thus making it a 12-series unbeaten streak for them.
Pakistan made three changes for this Test. While two were made on the basis of form, one of them was a forced one. Their regular skipper Misbah-ul-Haq had to return back to Pakistan due to the death of his father-in-law. He was also fined by the ICC for a Test over the issue of slow-over rate. Thus he was set to miss the Test anyways. In his absence, Azhar Ali is leading the side. The other two changes were Wahab Riaz coming in for Yasir Shah — the star leg-spinner who went wicketless in the previous Test for the first time in his career — and Imran Khan coming in for Rahat Ali. Misbah was replaced by Mohammad Rizwan in the plyaing XI.
Hosts New Zealand too were forced to make a forced change, when Trent Boult was ruled out due to injury. He was replaced by Matt Henry in the playing XI. The other change was Todd Astle making way for all-rounder Mitchell Santner, who got fit and returned to the squad after a wrist fracture. Play with begin 30 minutes early — at 10.30 am local time — on the second day in order to compensate for the lost time on Day One.
