The allrounder Colin de Grandhomme has smacked the quickest Test fifty for New Zealand  beating team-mate Tim Southee‘s record by one delivery.

De Grandhomme reached his half-century in 28 deliveries, hitting six fours and a six in the process, to outdo Southee’s 29-ball effort on Test debut against England in 2008.

The milestone came for de Grandhomme as New Zealand sped to a second-innings total of 585/4 declared in their second innings on Friday to set Sri Lanka a record 660-run target if they are to win the deciding second Test in Christchurch.
