Ross Taylor and Brendon McCullum posted unbeaten centuries against a tepid West Indies attack to put New Zealand on the driving seat at 367/3 at the the end of  Day one of the first Test in Dunedin.

Earlier in the day, Peter Fulton and Hamish Rutherford laid a solid platform with solid half centuries at the University Oval, which has a reputation of being a bowler friendly pitch . Post tea, former skipper Ross Taylor and McCullum launched a calculated assault on the West Indies bowlers. McCullum, a doubtful starter before the test began was at his belligerent best and both batsmen brought up their centuries in quick succession.

West Indies’ nightmare continued from where it left off in India and barring the in-form Shane Shillingford, the fast bowlers were bereft of ideas against the Kiwis and were taken to the cleaners.

Brief scores:

New Zealand 367 for 3 ( Brendon McCullum 109*, Ross Taylor 103*; Shane Shillingford 1 for 88) vs West Indies.
