This somewhat takes the shine off the trophy, but Sri Lanka Cricket s chief Thilanga Sumathipala has opposed such a view, as he told observerbd.com: "Sri Lanka is playing against India and not with the individual players. We have also kept Angelo Mathews, Kusal Jenith, Asela Gunaratne, Lasith Malinga away. Few of the above players are on injury list; however, the tournament will not lose its gloss."

Contrary to reports and rumours, Mashrafe Mortaza was not ready for making an international 20-overs comeback. A source close to the Bangladesh team said: "Our team has no Mortaza. He has not been considered because he showed no interest in spite of the request by the BCB Chief."

The Nidahas Trophy starts March 6 and concludes on March 18. The three teams will be led by Rohit Sharma, Shakib Al Hasan and Dinesh Chandimal.
