Nothern Knights were 54 for the loss of one wicket at the end of five overs against Southern Express in the first qualifying match of the Champions League Twenty 20 (CLT20) at Raipur on Saturday. Kane Williamson was batting on 35, and Daniel Flynn was batting on 3. Williamson and Anton Devcich made a strong start to the chase, and hit boundaries and sixes at will. However, Devcich fell to Maharoof in the fourth over.
Earlier, Southern Express had posted 92 for five in their 10 overs, with Kusal Perera giving the Sri Lankan T20 side a strong start. They were 41 for no loss at the end of 4 overs, and the Knights did really well to come back and restrict them.
Southern Express qualified for the glitzy and glamorous event by defeating Udarts Rulers in the final of Super 4s T20. Jehan Mubarak will lead the side.
Northern Districts will depend on the likes of Kane Williamson,Trent Boult, Daniel Harris, Daniel Flynn, Ish Sodhi and company to leave an indelible mark in the tournament. They surely need the wisdom of experience from Harris to fire on all cylinders. Boult will have to make crucial breakthroughs upfront.
