New South Wales Premier Barry O’Farrell joined the list of admirers who have paid glowing tributes to cricket columnist and former Somerset captain Peter Roebuck, who committed suicide in Cape Town while covering Australia’s tour of South Africa.

“Roebuck was among the world’s best cricket writers and a fantastic broadcaster,” said O’Farrell at the Wankhede Stadium this morning.

O’Farrell is on a visit to Mumbai along with the NSW Trade Commission and was present when Cricket NSW signed a MOU with the Mumbai Cricket Association for exchange of tours between the two countries’ most successful state sides.

He also distributed cricket kits as well as CDs from the (Don) Bradman Musuem in Sydney to a dozen municipal school children who are supported in their cricket endeavour by NGO Salaam Bombay Foundation. (PTI)
