Sri Lankan fast bowler Nuwan Kulasekera was reprimanded for aggressive celebration of Luke Ronchi‘s dismissal during his team’s seventh ODI against New Zealand here today. “Kulasekera admitted to a breach of Article 2.1.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, said the ICC in a statement.
After claiming the Ronchi’s wicket, Kulasekera aggressively changed direction towards the dismissed batsman, which was considered unacceptable by the match officials. The charge was laid by on-field umpires Chris Gaffaney and Rod Tucker, third umpire Michael Gough and fourth umpire Derek Walker.

Kulasekera accepted the offence and therefore a formal hearing was not required. Kulasekara picked two crucial wickets in the match, earlier getting Martin Guptil out on a duck, contributing to Sri Lanka’s consolation win over New Zealand at Wellington. Sri Lanka won the match by a margin of 34 runs.
