Karachi: Former New Zealand cricketer and present commentator Simon Doull is a part of the commentary panel for the test series between Pakistan and New Zealand. During the ongoing second test, he made a shocking remark on the Pakistan skipper Babar Azam, which now is going viral all over the internet.
Simon Doull was clearly unimpressed with the flat pitch of Karachi National Stadium, which was not helping the pacers. He questioned who was demanding these kinds of pitches is it the PAK skipper Babar Azam or the upper brass of Pakistan Cricket Board?

“Where do these directives come from? Do they come from Babar Azam? Does he want to play on these roads to improve his own stats,” said Simon Doull.
“Let the ground staff do their job properly. The people above, the hierarchy, have just got to leave their noses out of it.”
“It offers nothing. There is no grass on it. There is no seam movement, and there is no carry,” Simon said.
“You are picking a guy like Mir Hamza who has a terrific first-class record. You pick guys who perform well at that level, but they come and bowl on this road. You can’t expect them to do the same job that they’re doing at the first-class level if you’re going to produce these types of surfaces.”
Pakistan’s pitches have been facing lots of criticism in recent times. The Rawalpindi pitches even received ‘below average’ rating from ICC. Even Karachi’s pitch has received constant backlash after the home series against England and Australia.
