Batsman, Alex Doolan‘s century saved Australians from suffering a humiliation after they were off to a poor start, losing Chris Rogers, Phil Hughes and Michael Clarke on a cheap note for 0, 14 and 10 respectively.

Doolan scored a brilliant knock of 104 off 192 balls that included 12 fours and three sixes with a strike-rate of 53.60. Apart from him, veteran batsman, Steve Smith too played a good knock of 58 off 123 balls that included just nine fours. However, the interesting part came when both the batsmen retired after their knock. Since both the batsmen were in good shape while they retired, it might be possible that it was a strategical move as they had played a good knock and had got accustomed and well aware of the condition and the track.

Currently 256 for seven, Australians are 49 runs behind with three wickets remaining. Brad Haddin and Steve O’Keefe are the two batsmen out on the crease.
