With India and Pakistan set to lock horns in the final of ICC Champions Trophy 2017, former Pakistan opener Aamer Sohail has set the social media ablaze with a few accusations. Speaking to a Pakistan news channel, Sohail feels Pakistan have reached the final due to ‘external forces’ and that Sarfraz Ahmed and co. have no reasons to rejoice. Pakistan’s magnificent turnaround in the previous two games handed them the final spot. England, who had won every game until the semi-final, were left stunned with Pakistan’s all-round performance. Pakistan won the match against South Africa and Sri Lanka with the help of their top-class bowling and their middle-order batsmen resurrecting the innings in the death overs. Sohail also added, “Sarfraz needs to be told that you have not done anything great. Someone has helped you win the game. There is no reason for you (Sarfraz) to be so happy. We all know what happens behind the scenes. Don’t wish to get into the details on who won them the games. If asked, I will say that the prayers of the fans and God has won them the games. They have been brought to the final due to external factors and not based on on-field performance. The boys now need to be level-headed and focus on playing good cricket.”
Sohail has left everyone puzzled after these claims. Interestingly, Javed Miandad was also sharing the screen space, who did not utter a word to counter the claims of his teammate.
Former Indian cricketer, Atul Wassan has ridiculed the claims talking to Times of India, “Such incomplete statements mean nothing.”
