Pakistan‘s Test and ODI captain Misbah-ul-Haq feels that his team has the potential to win the final edition of the ICC Champions Trophy to be held in England in June.
Misbah said the upcoming Champions Trophy was very important tournament for the Pakistan team.
“Since 2009 Pakistan has not won a major ICC tournament and since this is the last time the ICC will organise the Champions Trophy we are keen to add this trophy to the Pakistan cricket shelf,” Misbah said.
He pointed out that Pakistan had managed to win the 50-overs 1992 World Cup, the World T20 in 2009 and also the Asia Cup last year but never lifted the Champions Trophy.
“It is an ICC tournament that has eluded us and we are preparing with a positive mind to go and win it in England,” he said of the eight-nation event.
Pakistan has been clubbed with India, South Africa and the West Indies in the group stages of the tournament.
