Pakistan to arrange a tri-nation series to qualify for ICC Champions Trophy 2017

According to current equations, Pakistan need to win at least four ODIs of the five-match series in Sri Lanka to get a No.8 rankings.

To keep their hopes of qualifying for ICC Champions Trophy 2017 alive, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is seriously considering arranging a tri-nation series in Zimbabwe. Pakistan, currently ranked No. 9 in One-Day Internationals (ODIs) are currently on backfoot regarding their chances of qualification for the 2017 event, Dawn reported.

They lost the ODI series in Bangladesh 0-3 and later at home beat Zimbabwe 2-0. But Bangladesh continued their good form and Beat India 2-1 in the just concluded ODI series. So their chances of playing the tournament has significantly increased. According to current equations, Pakistan need to win at least four ODIs of the five-match series in Sri Lanka to get a No.8 rankings and qualify for the event.

So to counter this, Pakistan are planning to play a tri-nation series in Zimbabwe with the hosts and West Indies in August. A good performance over their can open the door for them.
