Sarfaraz Ahmed, the Pakistan wicketkeeper batsman, has said that he is ready to bat at any position for the team’s cause. In 2014, Sarfaraz is the leading run-scorer for wicketkeepers in Test cricket. He has scored some crucial runs for Pakistan this year and has been one of their most successful batsmen. During the ongoing Test against New Zealand in Dubai, his ton in the first innings helped Pakistan get within 10 runs of the opposition’s score.
Sarfaraz was quoted by Gulf News, “It is up to the to the team management to decide at which position I should bat. They asked me to open in One-Day Internationals, I did and if they ask me again, I am ready. It is always up to the team management.”
In the first innings, Sarfaraz walked in at 220 for five, with them up against New Zealand’s 403. It was due to Sarfaraz’s century that Pakistan finished with 393. He said, “When I came out to bat it was a different situation and I had a good partnership with Asad Shafiq but unfortunately he got out, then today we lost two quick wickets so I asked Rahat to stay and help me and he did. We managed to put up a good partnership and that helped to reduce the lead.”
Sarfaraz has been in great form. Against Australia at Dubai, his combative century put Pakistan in a commanding position. During the tour to Sri Lanka as well, he was in great form.
