Pakistan began their three-match T20I series against West Indies at the Dubai International Stadium on Friday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. There was a lot riding on this series especially for Pakistan as they had to set things right in the format of limited-overs. After winning the toss, Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed opted to bowl first as it was predicted that the wicket would be very helpful for the spinners. Putting their captain’s decision right, Pakistan spinners restricted West Indies to a total of 115. Imad Wasim was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up 5 for 14.

Imad Wasim also became the first Pakistani spinner to get a fifer in a Twent20 International match. He also went on to record the third best bowling figures for a Pakistan bowler after Umar Gul who hold the first two spots. Gul has the figures of Umar Gul 5/6 against New Zealand and South Africa in 2009 and 2013 respectively. Wasim finished his spell of four overs with the figures of 4-0-15-4. Riding on such excellent bowling effort from Wasim, Pakistan restricted West Indies at 115 which looked very unlikely as the visitors were tottering at 48 runs on the board with eight wickets down. But Dwayne Bravo and Jerome Taylor went on to put a very important partnership of  66 runs off 47 deliveries for the ninth wicket to help their team out off misery.

Bravo scored his half-century as he made 55 off 54 deliveries to while Taylor also scored important 21 runs of as many deliveries to make sure that their team reached a fighting total at the end of 20 overs. Bravo was the last man to be dismissed as he tried to go for a big one in the last over. Except for Wasim’s 5 for  Sohail Tanvir was the other successful bowler for Pakistan as Tanvir finished with the figures off 2 for 26 in 3.5 overs.
