Merely hours away from the resumption of international cricket in Pakistan, World XI skipper Faf du Plessis has called his journey from Dubai to Lahore nothing short of a movie script. Pakistan are set to take on an ICC recognised World XI in a 3-T20I series starting Tuesday.
Du Plessis, who arrived on Monday morning in Pakistan in a media interaction said, “The last 24 hours have really been exciting for us. We felt like we are in a movie.” He further states that it is a huge honour for him to lead the World XI.
“Huge honour to be here as it’s not often you are playing cricket in a cause which is much bigger than the game,” du Plessis explained.
“In a few years time when I will sit with my family, this is something I can be really proud of,” concluded du Plessis.
The man responsible for World XI’s tour to Pakistan, Andy Flower in his media interaction said, “I’ve a great connection with Pakistan & coming here shows our commitment to resume international cricket in Pakistan.”
“These cricketers are here to play their part in the safe and steady return of international cricket in Pakistan, so that the enthusiastic and diehard fans and followers of Pakistan cricket can once again start watching their stars in their own backyard,” Flower said.
The World XI includes international stars as Hashim Amla, Tamim Iqbal, Imran Tahir, Paul Collingwood and Geroge Bailey amongst others.
