Nepal pulled off an emphatic win in the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2016 against New Zealand and have started the tournament off incredibly well. Chasing 239 to win, New Zealand were bowled out for 206, with 17 balls to spare, handing Nepal a 32-run win. Nepal senior team skipper Paras Khadka congratulated the U-19 boys for the win. Khadka and his colleague Gyanendra Malla were oart of the Under-19 team that defeated New Zealand in the ICC World Cup 2006, when they beat them by one wicket in a nail-biting match at Colombo. Like Malla and Khadka, Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) CEO Bhawana Ghimire took to social media to congratulate the current U-19 team on their excellent win. Barring the 72-run stand for the third wicket, New Zealand never really looked to be on course to winning this match. Dipendra Singh Airee and Prem Tamang shared five wickets between them. A couple of run outs did not help New Zealand’s cause as well. Nepal take on Ireland in their next match and then play a match against India. A win will give them great confidence going into the remaining matches in the tournament.
