Indian Premier League (IPL) Team Kochi Tuskers Kerala have announced Parthiv Patel as their captain for the remainder of the season. The news was made public on the team’s official twitter account.
They tweeted on their official handle @KochiTuskersKTK: “Its time to usher in our new Captain! The man with gloves of steel & who gave us the winning runs last night! Its PARTHIV PATEL!!”
He will take over from Mahela Jayawardene, who has left to join the Sri Lanka team for their tour to England. Earlier, the Sri Lankan Cricket board had called its players by May 5 to prepare for their tour to England.
They then allowed their players to join the team latest by May 18 after negotiations with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Kochi won their last match against Rajasthan Royals at Indore by 8 wickets with 76 balls to spare. They have 12 points from 13 games and have a very slim chance of making it to the knock out stages.
