Injury-prone Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins believes the injury ghosts that have haunted him at the start of his career have vanished, and has expressed confidence about representing his country at the international level in all formats again. Cummins, 21, burst onto the international scene with a scintillating seven-wicket Test haul against South Africa in 2011, but has been hampered by repeated stress-related injuries to his back, feet and ribs since.
According to the Daily Telegraph, he, however, is approaching the 2014-15 cricket summer in good shape. Cummins played his first international game in two years on Wednesday night, impressing with his pace and accuracy to finish with 1-21 from his allotted four overs against South Africa. Australia, however, lost the Adelaide Oval T20 match by seven wickets.
Cummins admitted he is unlikely to play any Tests for Australia in the near future, which will ensure his body is given the best chance to settle into a rhythm without another injury. However he said he is keen to break in to New South Wales’ Sheffield Shield team at some stage this season.
