Australia’s newest pace sensation Pat Cummins is all set to cash in on his meteoric rise by giving his name for the lucrative Indian Premier League’s players’ auction next year.
“I see it as a really good opportunity to play in different conditions against the top players, and it’s good fun,” 18-year-old Cummins, who is out of action currently due to a heel injury, told ‘The Daily Telegraph’.
“I enjoyed my time in India during the Champions League and liked the conditions. I think with Twenty20 cricket you play every couple of days and it’s not too many overs, so you never put too much stress on your body,” he added.
Cummins, who grabbed seven wickets in his debut Test, said playing in the IPL would help him get acclimatised to conditions in the sub-continent which ensure good performance during international series there.
“…if you’re going to play a Test series there (on the subcontinent) in the future, any experience over there is a good experience,” he said.
His manager Neil Maxwell said the pacer will gain significantly from the IPL experience.
“All the players I have spoken to who have played in the IPL have said what a great experience it has been for them to mix with players they have played against over the years,” he said.(PTI)
