Trevor Bayliss would be taking a break from cricket in 2017, while Paul Farbrace is all set to take the charge of the England team in 2017, when they tour West Indies for a three-match One-Day International (ODI) series. England would be leaving at the end of February, and would be back by March 10. Although it’s a short trip, the short break would also allow Bayliss to spend some much needed and considerable time along with his family back in Australia. England would also be ending their three and a half month long tour of India on February 1. Bayliss urges Buttler to stay away from on-field spats
The decision does not come as a surprise, as England have a packed schedule, and is increasingly becoming a never ending one, while ECB too do not want their players to get fatigue and coaches to suffer burnout. Farbrace has also handled England’s reign as an interim team manager before. Following the sacking of Peter Moores in May 2015, Farbrace took charge of the team for the New Zealand tour, that saw England begin a dominant phase in limited-overs cricket. Meanwhile, Farbrace is not along with the team in the ongoing Test series vs Bangladesh in the sub-continent. Ottis Gibson is currently Bayliss’ assistant in the tour, while Steve Rhodes is also in the team management for the next couple of weeks, reports espncricinfo.com.
England are all set to begin their longest home season till date in 2017, as it starts with two ODIs against Ireland on May 5, followed by the ICC Champions Trophy in June, while they also plat a Test and a limited-overs series vs South Africa, which again is followed by a West Indies series, that ends on September 29. Shortly afterwards, they also depart for a long Ashes tour Down Under.
