Karachi: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shahryar Khan has admitted that he would seek the termination of ‘Big Three’, featuring the cricket boards of India, England and Australia, in the next week’s International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting to be held in Dubai. Earlier in 2013, the ICC gave additional power to Australia, England and India which invited a flurry of criticisms from the independent cricket stakeholders. Shahryar revealed that the main agenda of the PCB would be to discuss an end of ‘Big Three’, consisting of Cricket Australia (CA), England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in the upcoming ICC meetings, the Express Tribune reported. Pointing out that there is a need of equal opportunities for all countries, the PCB chief said that they would seek to finalize a new system during the meeting. The PCB had earlier given its node to the ‘Big Three’ system after the BCCI promised to renew cricketing ties with Pakistan by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to play six series between 2015 and 2023. The first Test series between India and Pakistan was scheduled to be held in December 2015 but the tension between the two Asian neighbours on the political front dented the plan. Meanwhile, Pakistan‘s former captain Inzamam-ul-Haq agreed to become the new chief selector only after being assured in principle by the PCB that he would be given a three-year term. “Inzamam made it clear to the board he would only resign as the head coach of the Afghanistan team and become the new chief selector if he was given time to prepare a squad for the next World Cup in 2019 in England,” an official source in the board told PTI on Wednesday.
