Following the resignation of Waqar Younis as Coach of Pakistan team, PCB has constituted a Committee to look for a new coach both within and outside Pakistan.

The committee will comprise of Intikhab Alam (Chairman), Zaheer Abbas (Member) and Col Naushad Ali (Member)

Ramiz Raja, has consented to assist the Committee in selection of the Coach. The Committee will start working after the Eid Holidays.

Earlier, Waqar Younis resigned as the Pakistan national coach citing personal reasons. He informed that he would go on to Pakistan’s tour of Zimbabwe, starting later this month.

“I have tendered my resignation to the Board last week and the tour to Zimbabwe will be my last,” he was quoted by The Dawn.

39-year-old former pacer took over as coach in March 2010, but his tenure has seen more controversies and failures than success. Spot-fixing scandal, which led to ban on three Pakistan cricketers Mohammad Aamer, Mohammad Asif and Salman Butt, and also, dissent from few players and differences with former one-day captain Shahid Afridi are the highlights.

“I have taken this decision on personal grounds, including medical grounds, and have no differences with anyone and my resignation has been accepted by the (Pakistan Cricket) Board,” said Waqar.
