Sao Paulo: Legendary former Brazil footballer Pele has been shifted to the palliative care unit after chemotherapy stopped giving expected results, according to Brazilian media reports. Pele has been balling colon cancer for quite some time now.
The 82-year-old was admitted to hospital last week to review his treatment. However, following his admission, he was disgnosed with a respiratory infection, medical reports say.
Later that week, Pele informed his fans through social media that his visit to the hospital is just a monthly routine check.
“Friends, I am at the hospital making my monthly visit,” Pele wrote on Instagram, along with a picture of a ‘get well soon’ message displayed on buildings at the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar.
“It’s always nice to receive positive messages like this. Thanks to Qatar for this tribute, and to everyone who sends me good vibes!” Kely Naschimento, Pele’s daughter also assured that his father’s visit to the hospital was nothing to worry about.
“Lots of alarm in the media today concerning my dad’s health. He is in the hospital regulating medication. There is no emergency or new dire prediction. I will be there for New Year’s and promise to post some pictures,” she wrote on Instagram.
Meanwhile, France wonderkid Kylian Mbappe has tweeted wishing Pele a speedy recovery. “Pray for the King,” wrote the PSG star who is currently representing his country in the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2022.
