Legendary Brazilian footballer Pele will be in India after 38 long years when he visits Kolkata and Delhi between October 11 and 17, 2015. Pele will meet former India captain Sourav Ganguly where he will meet the students and faculty of a private university there. Pele will also participate in the conversation with Ganguly, which will be moderated with Boria Majumdar. He will then attend a gala dinner. Pele will also be the guest of honour in Atletico de Kolkata’s opening match in the Indian Super League (ISL). All fund raising events that Pele visits in Kolkata will go to the Chief Minister’s relief Fund of West Bengal. In Delhi, Pele will be a part of all the activities pertaining to the Subroto Cup, the final of which is set to be played on October 16. Pele had come to India in 1977 with New York Cosmos played Mohun Bagan. Considered the king of football, Pele has won one Ballon d’Or Prix d’Honneur, three World Cup trophies and 1,283 career goals later, and continues to travel the world to this day, to promote the country and the sport that made him famous.
