The International Cricket Council (ICC)’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) warned Percy Abeysekera, the official fan of Sri Lanka on Saturday for breaching protocols. It was the Day 3 of the India vs Sri Lanka second Test match and the game was halted due to rain when Percy was seen in jovial mood with Virat Kohli and Murali Vijay near the Indian dressing room. According to ICC rules dressing rooms are considered as high security zones and ACSU has barred anyone from entering these player strongholds without the highest level of clearance. But the 79-year old Sri Lankan fan was spotted over there.
Meanwhile Percy claimed the Indian skipper Virat Kohli invited him to meet the boys. Percy went into the dressing room and was seen hugging and kissing the likes of Vijay, Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli on TV. “Kohli invited me to the dressing room. I sang some Hindi songs. We hugged and kissed and had a lot of fun,” Percy told Times of India on Saturday .
“There was an Indian ACSU official there and he didn’t like me in the dressing room. He asked me to leave and told me I am not allowed to enter either of the dressing rooms. There is no black mark associated to me,” Percy said. The 79-year-old gentleman might not be a threat of any kind but ACSU has guidelines to follow and was correct to ensure strict implementation of rules.
