Peter Moores, the England coach, may face the sack after the team’s poor run in recent times. Moores took over as England coach in 2014 in the aftermath of the Ashes 2013-14 disaster Down Under. However, the results under him have not been very encouraging, the nadir being the first round exit from the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. To add to Moores’ woes, England failed to win the Test series in the West Indies as the hosts fought back to win the last game at Barbados. A report in The Telegraph mentions that Moores may face the sack after Andrew Strauss becomes the England and Wales Cricket Board’s (ECB) director of cricket. The report also mentions former Australia internationals Jason Gillespie and Justin Langer as candidates to take over from Moores. While Gillespie has done well as coach of Yorkshire, Langer is currently with Western Australia and has been Australia’s batting coach in the past.

It has been a tumultuous time for Moores, who came in when England cricket faced huge challenges. It started off with a home series defeat to Sri Lanka, before England bounced back with a 3-1 win against India. However, the woes continued in one-day cricket, ending with the World Cup embarrassment. Moores had been England coach in 2007-08.
