Phillip Hughes tribute match at Kathmandu: Both squads announced, Cricket Australia chairman to attend the game

In respect of Phillip Hughes’ not out score in his final game, a 63-over game (31.3 overs per side) will be played.

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) announced both the squads for the Phillip Hughes tribute match, which is to be held at the Tribhuvan University Stadium, Kathmandu on April 11. The match will honor the Australian batsman who died tragically on 63 not out while playing for South Australia against New South Wales (NSW) at the Sydney Cricket Ground in November 2014.

Cricket Australia (CA), and International Cricket Council (ICC) Executive Committee, Chairman Wally Edwards will attend the match, together with NSW and Sydney Thunder player Ryan Carters who has confirmed his participation. More Australian cricketers are expected to participate in this historic game. Former Australian U-19 captain and current ICC Head of Global Development Tim Anderson will play this match.

In respect of Phillip Hughes’ not out score in his final game, a 63-over game (31.3 overs per side) will be played between two combined teams made up of the visiting Australian cricketers, and players from the Nepali national side. Prior to the match a reception for the players and other stakeholders will be hosted by the Australian Ambassador to Nepal, Glenn White. The Tribute Match will be followed by an expedition whereby one of Hughes’ bats and playing jerseys will be taken to Mt Everest.

Team Red: Ryan Carters (C), Tim Anderson, Matthew Elliot, Sharad Vesawkar, Gyanendra Malla, Subash Khakurel, Basant Regmi, Prithu Baskota, Sompal Kami, Jeetendra Mukhiya, Siddhant Lohani, Rajesh Pulami, Rajbir Singh, Prajwal Shahi.
