India continued dominating Sri Lanka as they declare at 610 for 6. While Rohit Sharma scored the third century of his Test career, Virat Kohli scored his fifth double-hundred, shattering many records on the way. India gained a lead of 405 runs. Later, Ishant Sharma gave India their first breakthrough by removing opener Sadera Samarawickrama for a duck. Sri Lanka were reduced to 21  for 1 at stumps as India led by 384 runs.
