Hello and Welcome to Cricket Country’s live cricket coverage of Day-1 of Bengal Super League Final, which is being played between Mohun Bagan and Bhowanipore Club. The match which is organised by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) at Eden Gardens, Kolkata is a four-day final and the best part of it is that it will be played under lights with the Pink ball. Yes! Finally we’ll have a glimpse of day-night cricket in India after a lot of discussion and debate. After the BCCI decided that the Duleep trophy this year will be played under lights, and top players will be a part of it, it was to be seen how things shape up then. And this match will certainly, grab a lot of eyeballs. Bagan are the favorites to win the tie, but expectations are still too high from the contest.

Majumdar is nearing his half-century. Das is the new batsman in and he has scored just a single. Mohan Bagan are nearing their 150 mark. Bagan are aiming to finish at 200 on Day-1. Puri has been the leading bowler for Bhowanipore so far. Drinks break at the moment. Meanwhile, it was wonderful to find Arun Lal back on the field. 

 

Live Cricket Score, Mohan Bagan 112/4 in 39 Overs, BATTING: Wriddhiman Saha 28 (50), Majumdar 30 (32): Mohan Bagan have found momentum with another steady partnership building between Saha and Majumdar. Saha is smashing boundaries and is making good use of the pink-ball right away. Bowlers are helpless and giving away runs. They are already 100 runs up and pretty quick within 15 overs already.

Saha has managed to take a single run while Vivek Singh has been picked so now enters Majumdar on crease along with Saha. Mohammad Shami is also on Mohan Bagan team so this is going to be an interesting side to watch. Meanwhile, Bhowanipore is bowling excellently and have restricted Bagan at the regular intervals.

Singh has managed to score just 9 runs from 50 balls although he did have a boundary to his name. Das is the new batsman on crease. Bhowanipore are bowling at the right length not giving too many runs but yes the extras flowing away. Bhattacharya is the new bowler now and has conceded just 5 runs from 5 overs. Considering it is pink ball, batsmen are still getting used to the pace and ends with a boundary.

Live Cricket Score, Mohan Bagan 10/1 in 5 Overs, BATTING: Singh 0 (9), Ghosh 0 (3): The game begins and rains have gone away. Both the batsman have still not achieved any runs yet. Too many extras from the other opponent. Mohan Bagan will want to get some runs on their hand.

Mohan Bagan have started well with 7 runs from first two over. Singh started off the over and have already given too many leg byes and no balls. They will want to restrict the extras and pretty understandable with the new ball in place. A new ball takes 5 to 7 overs to get settled.

With India scheduled to play a day-night Test against New Zealand later in the year, according to reports, this match will be an important step in learning what venue might be chosen for the game. If the proceedings are carried out well, Sourav Ganguly-led CAB might just be given the opportunity of hosting that Test.

The first Day-Night Test might have been played at Adelaide between Australia and New Zealand, but looks like India is not far away from hosting a competitive match under lights on its soil.
