The only place where Ashwin lacks as a spinner is in overseas conditions, especially in England, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. Kohli, on the other side has been scoring aplenty. He has not just led but have always set example for others irrespective of the conditions. Going by the numbers of both these players in the ongoing series against England, Kohli has contributed 23 percent of team runs with bat whereas Ashwin has scored 14 percent of team runs, along with 15 wickets.

While Ashwin has his fans because of his all-round shows, not to forget Kohli boasts an impressive record as captain. So far, India have won 12 Tests under Kohli’s captaincy from the 20 played and the number will increase over the period. Kohli is yet to be tested in overseas conditions as captain and it will be interesting to see how he guides them in future.
