According to reports, India‘s swing-bowler Praveen Kumar has been ruled out of the World Cup. Praveen who was named in the final 15 man squad, will have to miss the mega event as he is yet to fully recover from his injury.

Praveen, who underwent treatment at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore, went to England for further treatment but with barely two weeks to go before the World Cup, doctors took a final call on his fitness and ruled him out after the medical check-ups in England.

An integral part of the team for the past one year, Praveen played 14 ODIs taking 19 wickets at a healthy average of 29.10 and a decent economy rate of 4.98.

Praveen’s knack of swinging the ball both ways will be sorely missed by the team, especially in the Indian conditions.

Sreesanth will be the likely replacement, after some excellent performances in the recently concluded South-African series.
