Prithvi Shaw shot to prominence when he scored 546 off 330 deliveries for his school Rizvi Springfield in 2013. He then made it to the India U-19 squad who won the Youth Asia Cup against Sri Lanka. He slowly progressed to domestic cricket in January 2017. Shaw started stacking up centuries and currently holds 5 of them from 9 First-Class matches. Today, Shaw is the proud captain of India who lifted the U-19 World Cup for the fourth time.
Manjot Kalra was the star in India’s 8-wicket win against Australia in the final. He scored 101* and became the second Indian to achieve this feat in the final of U-19 World Cup after Unmukt Chand.
Shaw thanked the support staff and his coach Rahul Dravid: “Can’t express what I’m feeling right now, really proud of it. All credit to our support staff for really supporting us for the last two years. Rahul Sir himself is a legend, the Wall we call him. It was a crucial hundred from Manjot. Gill was batting so well. Both pacers, Kamlesh and Mavi, have been executing things so well through the tournament. It’s been wonderful playing matches here.”
